DOCTOR WON’T PRESCRIBE TRT / TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY?

There are lots of different reasons that your doctor will not prescribe you TRT / TESTOSTERONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY? In this article we will cover why your doctor is hesitant to prescribe you TRT and some ways to get it prescribed to you.

Why doctors don’t like prescribing TRT?

  • Testosterone is a Class III schedule drug in the United States. With the Recent Opioid crisis the DEA has started to heavily crack down on schedule drug prescriptions. Your doctor may not want that extra scrutiny on his shoulders, so instead of prescribe you the treatment you need, he simply tells you that you are fine.
  • Believe it or not, Hormones are a very very small portion of general medical school education. Even though hormones play such a vital role in our bodies, the education of these hormone and how important they are is often very short and general.
  • If your doctor is older there is a good chance that they learned a very small amount about hormones and testosterone in the 80’s. So much has been learned about the importance of testosterone in the male body in the past 40 years, that you doctor is simply uneducated on testosterone replacement therapy.
  • Back in the day it was thought that TRT caused prostate cancer, heart attacks and strokes. Many studies have since shown that these are very rare and that having low testosterone can in many cases be more detrimental to your health. There is a very high chance that you doctor does not keep up on new studies about the topic.
  • Your doctor may think that you are too young for TRT and tell you to suck it up and be a man. Having poor quality of life is not good for anyone regardless of age.
  • Your doctor may not want to prescribe you TRT because of the possible fertility issues. This is very common if you are under the age of 35 or do not have kids yet. TRT can definitely hurt your fertility chances. But medicines like HCG and Gonadorelin can help offset these risks. Also please consider that many men have had children on TRT and heavy steroid cycles.
  • Low testosterone is often misdiagnosed as depression by doctors around the world. Many doctors will try to push antidepressants and SSRI’s instead of TRT. They are visited by reps for these medicines on a weekly basis and know everything about them. So they feel comfortable prescribing them over that scary injectable testosterone.
  • Another reason your doctor may not prescribe you testosterone replacement therapy even if you have low testosterone blood results is that they don’t know how to treat low testosterone. Instead of admitting that they are not a medical god that knows everything, they will instead stick to treatments that the are knowledgeable about. Even if it isn’t the correct treatment.

Now that we have covered many of the reasons that your doctor won’t prescribe testosterone replacement therapy, lets cover some way to improve your odds of getting prescribed TRT.

My Blood Test and my Doctor say my Testosterone Levels are Low Normal

This is a very common scenario. Your blood test shows that you are a few points from being considered medically low in testosterone. So your brilliant doctor tells you that you are fine and sends you on your way. The truth about testosterone blood test results are that they are not the most accurate tests in the first place. Each different lab company has a different set of testosterone ranges. So if you had taken your blood test through a different company, you might be considered to have medically low testosterone. Lab ranges for testosterone have gone down over the past 40 years due to getting samples from an unhealthy population. I personally think the cut off for low testosterone should be 400 or below. Healthy men 60 years ago didn’t have testosterone levels of under 300 and studies have shown that older generations had as much as 40% more testosterone then men of today.

How To Artificially Lower Your Testosterone Levels for a Blood Test

Obviously this is just for entertainment and no one would ever do this. But if for some reason you had borderline low testosterone levels, felt horrible and needed to get a lower testosterone blood test to get prescribed TRT, this is what you could try.

  • Not sleeping the night of your blood test. Your body produces testosterone when you sleep. No sleep = Lower Testosterone levels
  • Drinking Caffeine and Alcohol – Both of these can lower testosterone levels. Don’t go into the test drunk, but drink the night before.
  • Eat garbage – Eat a bunch of bad food the night before your blood test. This may skew some of your other blood results.
  • Rub One Out – This one will probably do the least to lower your testosterone levels. But hey, why not 🙂

As I stated before, if you are sick of dealing with your doctor and or your insurance company, you can go right to the source. Royal Medical Center is one of the largest and most experienced TRT clinics in the country. They can treat you remotely in any state and mail the medicines YOU need to your front door.
